getting to know me

We all know that kids have a wonderful way of being brutally honest. What makes it so wonderful is there is nothing but purity at the heart of their answers. Kids are not tempered by a politically correct filter, and most of the time, their responses are not an attempt at emotional manipulation.

Every once in a while I see these posts going around Facebook where you should ask your kids to respond to a set of questions. These are also a particular favorite activity for preschool teachers to have the students present for Mother’s Day gifts. If you have kids over the age of 3 or 4, I’m sure you’ve received one of these “hey mom, here’s what your kid really thinks about you” gifts.

Life can get a whole lot more interesting when you ask a 13-year old to answer those questions. Anything could have come out of her mouth, and I would share it with you all the same. So, here is a getting to know me through the eyes of my teenage daughter.

1. What is something I always say to you? Don’t be sassy
2. What makes me happy? coffee and Dan and Phil
3. What makes me angry? stop lights
4. How do I make you laugh? Youtube jokes
5. What was I like as a child? mean
6. How old am I? 35
7. How tall am I? 5’5″
8. What is my favorite thing to do? pet Buddy (the dog)
9. What do I do when you’re not around? work
10. What am I really good at? being stubborn
11. What am I not very good at? you’re so good at everything
12. What do I do for a job? teach
13.What is my favorite food? yogurt
14. What do you enjoy doing with me? Youtube

If you have not tried this with your kids, I dare you to do it. What did you think about this? Would you like to see me post more of these types of get to know me quizzes? Should I ask my 10-year old the same questions?
